Relief from 2020 Stress

Hello Fiber Enthusiasts!

As I sit here and think about something witty to say, I sigh, and think what a tough year it has been for everyone.

But there are a few silver linings that we all grasp with delight.   Cascade Yarns has supplied us with one.   Beginning October 21, the Holiday Baubles Crochet-a-long begins. This project is crochet squares of Christmas Tree ornaments.  But something I noticed on this pattern, if you don't want to do ornaments, do the top of the ornament with the background color.  This would make this blanket usable year round.  But wait!!  I've got more ideas!   Ready below!

With limited staff, if you call and end up with voice mail, please leave a message.  Or if it's a quick question, texting is perfect for me.  AND I love seeing your projects.  Text me pictures!!

Holiday Baubles Crochet Blanket Crochet-a-long

We all need something that takes us away from this years' stress and unpredictability.  Cascade and Melinda Miller have joined in a project to take you away from all this.

The Holiday Baubles Blanket is a 9 part CAL running from October 21st through December 16th. Every Wednesday, Cascade Yarns will email a section of the pattern to their email newsletter subscribers.   to Cascade Yarns and sign up for the newsletter. Melinda will provide support on her blog (

There are 3 colorways to choose from: Classic, Vintage & Modern.   BUT you are not confined to these colorways.  I have included the supplies list, and you can easily substitute your own colors.  Simply go to my Cascade Anthem's page at and order your own colors.

Here's another idea!   Prefer not to do a holiday design?  Work the top of the ornament in the background color.   Select colors that work for your décor or for whom you wish to gift it to.  Change the layout of the final squares, and there you go!  Basically select a background color.  Then select 6 contrast or coordinating colors.   The background color needs 14 balls, and the contrast colors are 2 balls each of 6 colors.  If you choose to do more squares of design, that may effect the needed contrast colors.

Like this idea, but need more help and final color coordinating?  Email me.
I'll ask questions like:
1) is this for a male, female, or neutral?
2) do you want contrast colors or tonal colors?
3) do you want something bright & happy, or more neutral and calming?
4) Anthem is 100% acrylic.  Pacific Worsted will substitute.  Cascade's Pacific Worsted has 40% Merino wool.   This makes it a warmer blanket.  Pacific Worsted is washable too.  Or if you want to go  pure wool.  Cascade's 220 Peruvian wool has tons of colors.  This yarn is hand wash or dry clean only.  This would be super warm, yet breathable.  So many options!

Cascade Yarns - Pacific Chunky

Everytime I pull an order for this yarn, which is numerous times a day, I think "I've got to work something up in this yarn".  It is so nice and soft. The colors are bright or intense.  I like this weight for last minute projects, or projects that won't take you a year to finish.   Perfect for just needing a quick knitting or crochet fix.   It is machine washable.  The 40% Merino adds just the right amount of warmth.

Cascade has created bunches of fun patterns for this yarn.   The link is below. The Truckee River Hat is a new one.  It has an easy broken rib pattern. Remember a few years back the rage for messy bun hats?   Cascade has the Monday Hat, which can be a messy bun hat or a regular hat.
